Senior Fire
Risk Assessor

London-based consultancy · PAS 79 Type 3 & 4 · HRB and complex non-residential stock.

The Role

A leading London fire safety consultancy is hiring a Senior Fire Risk Assessor to deliver PAS 79 Type 3 and Type 4 assessments across higher-risk residential, commercial and complex non-residential portfolios. The role suits an experienced surveyor or fire safety practitioner with strong building-pathology fundamentals and the survey discipline to attest to construction as built, not just as drawn.

Reporting to the Head of Fire Risk, you will lead site work on a portfolio of HRBs, mid-market commercial estate and complex public-sector stock, and contribute to PAS 9980 external wall assessments alongside the wider fire engineering team.

The client is signatory to the relevant industry competence frameworks and has a clear pathway to chartered status for those not yet there.

Responsibilities

  • Lead PAS 79 Type 3 and Type 4 FRAs across HRB, commercial and complex non-residential stock.
  • Contribute to PAS 9980 EWS assessments alongside the fire engineering team.
  • Quality-review reports authored by junior surveyors and act as the technical lead on key client accounts.
  • Maintain Responsible Person relationships across a defined client portfolio.
  • Support principal accountable persons with evidence of competence under the Building Safety Act regime.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrable senior-level fire risk assessment experience across mixed stock.
  • MCABE, CBuildE, MIFireE, GIFireE or equivalent — or a clear, recent route to one.
  • Strong PAS 79 Type 4 survey experience — assessing construction as built.
  • Working understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 and the BSR's competence expectations.
  • UK driving licence; willingness to travel within the South East as required.

Package

  • £60,000 – £75,000 base, dependent on experience and credentials.
  • Car allowance.
  • Hybrid working — typically 2 days office / site, 3 days remote.
  • Funded route to chartered status where not already held.
  • 26 days holiday + bank holidays, private medical, pension contribution.
